In July 2011 Richard received two teams of people to help him in the ministry. Jodi and her friends (they called themselves the ZamFam) went and helped Richard reach out to the orphans in his community. They brought 200 pairs of shoes to give to orphans and vulnerable children both in Ndola and also in the village outside of Ndola where Richard's mother lives. They also spent time daily for three weeks with the children, singing, playing, and holding Bible lessons and crafts. With Richard's older orphans, they held an outreach in the community, singing songs and preaching the gospel. They also played soccer and held soccer matches with a local orphanage. The ZamFam team also brought things to leave in Richard's ministry house to help Richard house people after they left ---blankets, mattresses, mosquito netting, sheets and pillows. Richard now has several people living with him that help with the ministry.
The other team of people that went to help Richard were my dad and brother. They spent two weeks finishing the installation of plumbing in Richard's house. They ran pipes from the house to the septic tank and put up a water tank for water to run into the house. They also installed a toilet and running water to the bathrooms and kitchen. One other thing they worked on was a front and back porch for the house.
There are many things that are still needed to complete Richard's house for future ministry, and those include plaster on the walls, furniture (especially beds), and ceramic floor tiles. If you are interested in helping to complete Richard's ministry house (the Shunnamite House), please contact me about it. Thank you!
